Landing late at Haneda or Narita?
Check transport for the time you can leave the terminal, not just your flight’s landing time. Confirm the final connection to your hotel. If that route no longer works, compare an official taxi rank, a confirmed private transfer or nearby accommodation—and tell your hotel you may arrive late.

Do this now
- Confirm HND or NRT, the arrival terminal and the hotel address. Use the airport’s official access page linked here to check rail and bus options for your actual travel date. Recheck after immigration and baggage collection.
- Check the entire journey. A train to a city station is not enough if your connecting line has stopped. Save the destination address in Japanese and confirm late check-in with your accommodation.
- Choose a backup before you lose connectivity. For a taxi, use the signed rank and confirm the fare basis. For a booked car, get confirmation of availability, the meeting point, waiting rules and total cost. A submitted request is not proof that a driver is waiting.

I am planning a late flight
Use the published timetable for the date and terminal, then consider the time needed to leave the airport and reach the boarding point. Immigration, baggage and delays vary; there is no reliable universal ‘landing plus 60 minutes’ rule. Keep a backup that still works if you miss your planned connection.
I have landed and transport is still running
Recheck departures from your current terminal and the last onward connection. Look at where an airport bus actually stops, not just the city name. Ask the information desk if you cannot tell which service reaches your destination.
The last useful public transport has gone
Follow airport signs to the taxi rank or ask the information desk about available transport and accommodation. Compare the whole cost for your group and luggage. An airport hotel may be an alternative, but verify vacancy, access and check-in before heading there.
I already booked a private transfer
Read your booking confirmation for the exact meeting point and contact method. If delayed, contact the operator promptly. Do not assume the company tracks your flight or that waiting is unlimited. A booked pickup and the ordinary taxi queue may use different locations.

Considering a booked airport transfer?
Airport Taxi offers an English booking site. Compare its quote with the public-transport route and the airport taxi option for your group.
Check the pickup time, bag capacity, meeting point, delay policy and cancellation terms. The provider’s FAQ says it does not track flights and does not supply child seats. If you need either, confirm a suitable alternative before paying.
For pickup within five hours, its instructions direct customers to contact it through LINE. Vehicle availability is not guaranteed by an online request.

Is a private transfer the same as an airport taxi?
A pre-booked service has its own confirmation, pickup and waiting rules. A taxi rank serves passengers waiting there. Follow the instructions for the service you actually chose; do not assume the pickup point is identical.
Are tolls included in a fixed fare?
Check the specific quote. Haneda’s airport taxi guidance says tolls are additional to its flat-rate taxi fares, whereas a private transfer may quote an inclusive total. Ask about late-night charges, waiting and cancellation as well.
Can I wait at Narita overnight?
Narita publishes night and early-morning access information by terminal and floor. Some areas are available around the clock, but that does not mean every terminal area, shop or service stays open. Follow airport staff instructions and check current accommodation availability.
Should I book a car for the exact landing time?
Ask the operator how to set the pickup time and what happens if immigration or baggage takes longer. A flight arrival estimate is not a guarantee of when you will reach the meeting point.
What if we have several suitcases or need a child seat?
Give the provider the passenger count, bag count and dimensions, and any child-seat requirement before paying. A passenger capacity does not also guarantee space for every suitcase. Do not infer child-seat availability from a vehicle photo.
